Caught on dash cam: Crash for cash insurance scam backfires

Without a dash cam, this driver would have had one hell of a battle on her hands.

This is the moment an alleged insurance scammer tries to stage a collision but is caught in the act on dash cam.

The video shows an unknown driver travelling through a quiet estate when a man pushing a moped appears from behind a parked car.

The man stops in the road and begins ramming the scooter into the bumper of the car before throwing himself onto the bonnet in what appears to be an attempted crash for cash insurance scam.

A bystander, who appears to be working alongside the moped rider, begins to film the incident on his mobile phone while the man clutches his back.

The seemingly distressed female driver jumps out of the vehicle shouting: "What the hell, you idiot!" and points out that she has a dash cam fitted to her vehicle.

Miraculously, the alleged scammer is cured of his back pain and he and the accomplice immediately begin to flee the scene.

Although it is not yet clear who the driver is or whether this incident is being investigated by police, the video certainly proves why having a dash cam is invaluable when it comes to fighting bogus insurance claims!
